Real life Tramp stories ...Welcome to our real tramp stories page. Part of our mission is to raise the awareness of issues that face the homeless and to raise some funds to put into work schemes that will help restore their self-respect. If you are involved in creating work schemes for the homeless please contact us, we may be able to offer some funding from our "Last Minute Bookings" trust fund. If you are a tourism operator we ask you to support this fund by offering a % of your tours as Last Minute Bookings via the Flexme discount card. Meet some of the homeless of New Zealand here...We are pleased to bring you real life stories of the "homeless" from the streets of New Zealand.. this includes a picture of the real person, a bit about their life history.. past work record.., what they look forward to and where they currently sleep etc. We have met the following people, whilst we cannot verify the accuracy of details given, we have published the information they have given verbally to us. Zef real name Lane, (42) & Ra-Mari (3?) Sleeps anywhere (was in a dis-used car). Zef (Maori/Irish) has been in Welly 6 years. 2 Brothers in Aussi. Ra-Mari is his partner. |

addict. Good News: Has creative talents in poetry and music.. a good guitar player and he wrote out a poem which you can read here Zeff's poem |

John (43) & Ilene (49) A lovely couple that Sleep in
Glover Park John - Has 1 child in Aussi, 1 brother, 2 sisters, no contact with Father. Ilene has 1 brother, both parents are dead |
Both have physical problems which affect their ability to work. John was attacked and admitted to hospital in 1998. Illene suffers from foot problems due to the dampness and has been in hosp. John has worked in the past as a mail clerk. | Basically they would like their own place with some privacy. | ||

Anton, Age 31 Semi-homeless, sometimes sleeps in bushes in Karori but does also have a house to stay No contact with parents |
Has worked with Oil company, also panel beating and mechanics. Has also done tiling/marbling. Was slightly blotto... at time of interview. |

Denise Age 41 (Scottish) Father of her children (her son died - cot death) committed murder. Her true Father does not want to know her, her mother she does not want to upset by contacting her. She has suffered violence in her past relationships. |
Her past jobs have included nursing, office job with council,
gardening - worked for Phoenix Co, Was with AA for 10 months, coming off
alcohol -involves shakes lasting 5 days.
Denise has a very good sense of humor and was a joy to speak to. |
She highlighted that their is no place for women to go to for a bed for the night. She was sharing with Bill, but they both got evicted (breaking his tenancy agreement). How about some couples accommodation ?? | ||
